The Austrian Postal Savings Bank or “Österreichishe Postsparkasse”. This was my first full free day in Vienna after arriving on a Thursday and playing two games on Friday and Saturday. It was open house Vienna day and many of the government and historical buildings were open to the public.
Austrian Postsparkasse - one of the most important modernist buildings designed by Otto Wagner, that unfortunately was closed last week 🙁 I was so excited to visit it as this is one of the pioneers of functional architecture and was innovative in it's form and used materials, that were chosen so buiding facade wouldn't require any cleaning or maintenance. They say world's 1/5 of aluminium was used to build it and each and every detail in this huge building was carefully thought about and designed by Wagner himself 🏦 .
