I was never much of a reader, until I moved to London. There is something contagious about England’s “reading culture”. You see people reading books anywhere and not to mention the amount of cute bookshops completely packed with books on every square centimetre - just like on the stairs at @johnsandoebooks. 📚 #bookstagram#booksbooksbooks
When I do eventually die, please bury me at John Sandoe. That’s all I ask. #johnsandoebooks#bookshop I have visited—and worked in—many bookshops all across the world, but John Sandoe might just be my very favourite.
“In 1957 John Sandoe set up business in what had formerly been a poodle parlour in a side street off King's Road, near Sloane Square. "Books?" said his father, dismayed by a son in trade. "You may as well sell boots." John's grandmother, meanwhile, was shocked that the new shop had no blinds to draw down on Sundays.” @telegraph @johnsandoebooks This was the beginning of one of my favourite bookshops. Happy Sunday! #wordchild#bookshop
Two years ago I had the launch party for my book 'The Anatomy of Colour' at @johnsandoebooks with a later signing at @hatchardspiccadilly Apparently, it is still selling well - largely due to the design and editing of @thamesandhudson #colour#color
“You have sacrificed a lot to be here to tell you how grateful I am and remind you that you are a RAINBOW in clouds “ - #mayaangelou . . As your journey on I want you to remember these words from Queen Maya Angelou, it’s COST you a lot to be exactly where you are today, but do not forget that your purpose BIGGER than your frustration or exhaustion. You are exactly where you need to be. Don’t forget the impact you make when you are there. Be PRESENT and remember every season will build you up for what ...
What a gem of a bookshop @johnsandoebooks is. I didn’t even know it existed until I stumbled upon the beautiful stand at Chelsea. Tiny premises but a jewel-like selection of books on gardens and gardening, with many titles I hadn’t seen before. The Kings Road customer is clearly discerning. Could have spent a fortune ..... and probably will in due course. Pop by next time you’re in the area and if you see a book you like, buy it and treasure it 📚
We shared @sonderandtell's story for the books issue of @toryburch Daily. Including #comfortzonesthebook, our favourite reads and the secret to running a business with your best friend (honesty and respect). Thank you ✍️ @nora__maloney and 📷 @evaschwank for capturing us in our natural environment at @johnsandoebooks 📚
It's the books issue of @toryburch! And we got to show them around one of our favourite London shops @johnsandoebooks. We spoke about #comfortzonesthebook, the secret to juggling a friendship with a working relationship and our all-time favourite reads 📷 by @evaschwank and 📝 @nora__maloney
“I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.” I quite agree with this quote of Jorge Luis Borges. At the moment I’m reading a Queen Victoria’s biography. I’m very curious to know something more about such a remarkable woman. Her name it’s so strongly associated with british culture and her life is everything but ordinary. Which book do you have on your bed-side table at the moment? 📚 # #exploringlondon
Something like nostalgia (longing) sweeps in and I suddenly ache to be wrapped in a warm scarf in London, post-coffee break, ducking into a bookshop to get lost amongst the endless shelves of books. John Sandoe would do quite nicely for another visit. Perhaps these recent challenge-filled weeks, including intense summer heat, have set me to long for the beauty and wonder of travel betwixt the appreciation of all the good I have here.
“But luxury has never appealed to me, I like simple things, books, being alone, or with somebody who understands” - Daphne du Maurier If you look closely, all of these pretty editions are Daphne du Maurier, until upon further inspection... I noticed one book is called The Dud Avocado. What a fabulous name for a band! 🥑☺️ #thedudavocado . . . . . #johnsandoebooks
John Sandoe Books, London. Stole this from my other Instagram @chapteronetakeone because I’m still feeling punky & a bit down after our trip to London. Having trouble finding my creative self both in writing & picture taking. Need to shake it off. No worries, I will. In the meantime, here’s my derivative post. #london#londonstreets

I turned thirty-three today, and to celebrate all three of us had toast in bed and spent the morning @royalacademyarts looking at the Summer Exhibition. Then we walked down Piccadilly for lunch @theritzlondon, where I ordered beef wellington and the baby fell asleep chewing on the husband's tie. Now delight after delight: a birthday book haul from @johnsandoebooks and banana splits after dinner.
