Rock the Ramp at Middleton was awesome! Check out my latest VLOG on YouTube. Link to the channel in my Bio. Got it up just in time, I'm at Oshkosh now for the rest of the week! If you recognize me, say hi! . . . #aviation#flyingcowboys
Couple of parent looking people watch a plane circle around the airport for a while, then it lands, a guy jumps out of the right seat, and it heads back out to the runway. That can only mean one thing! Somebody’s going to be awake all night listening to “Learning to Fly” by Pink Floyd and “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson and nursing a case of goosebumps that won’t go down. At least if he’s anything like I was at the same moment fourteen years ago. :)
My trip to Duluth this month coincided with a safety seminar and hamburger lunch at a neighboring airport. Foreground, the first plane I flew down here. Background, my favorite plane to fly. Next is a quick stop in Eau Claire then we’re Duluth bound. Very favorable winds today. If it weren’t for the stops, I believe the whole trip would be well under two hours.
I’ve broken through! I made the local news on my way home from dinner Monday night. I am “Dude Driving Cessna #2” in the B-roll for a story on the expansion of Morey Airport. https://www.channel3000.com/news/middleton-to-study-morey-field-to-develop-master-plan/1075862268
First solo flight! This past Saturday I flew an airplane by myself for the first time, with 3 takeoffs and landings. This is footage from my GoPro mounted in the cockpit. In the 1st clip you see the taxi and ratio call for takeoff at Morey airport in Middleton. The 2nd clip is the final radio call as I approach the landing strip (runway 28) The 3rd clip is the landing. #aviation#gopro
Do what you love. Love what you do. 👏 In the 1960s my dad earned his pilot's license but only flew for a year or two. Shortly after my mom passed away, and many years after retiring from the University of Wisconsin, my dad was looking for something new and different to occupy his time. He went to Morey Airplane Company at Middleton Municipal Airport and took the lessons he needed to renew his license. Since then he's been flying multiple times a week - including schlepping his daughter to many TRX courses around the country! He also began teaching ...
Very sad news out of Texas last weekend. I had a chance encounter with Cowden and Pecos Bill this past summer that I won’t soon forget. Any pilot that flew to airventure on Sunday remembers the weather and the mad dash to get in as soon as it broke. The traffic caused Pecos Bill to divert to Madison where I was in full airport bum mode just putzing around the hangar. It’s not every day that I hear my favorite airplane of all time thundering overhead so I jumped at the chance to go over and introduce myself when he ...
Congrats on 1000 hours of flying daddy. What a great celebration filled with friends, beer, cheese, cake and a repeating the phrase “do you want to touch my rocket?” an amazing number of times. Thank you daddy for teaching me to always reach for the stars; quite literally.
