I find it interesting that heat has more of an effect on my heart rate than my level of effort or intensity. Yesterday: 7 easy/slow miles in 80° sun. Heart rate = ~150-160 Today: 6x1000m high intensity on the track, 58° early morning. Heart rate = ~150-160 Roughly the SAME! But how can that be when I worked so much harder on the track!? 😳 My deduced moral of the story: Running in the heat SUCKS, but it can make you so much stronger the following Fall. But boy does it suck. 😂😂😂 So even ...
Most of my life I have found ways to express great loathing for my body when it has always been the only thing to endure the abuses of my lifetime. When my psyche collapsed under the weight of trauma, my body carried me on the best it could, imperfectly, but carry me it did. And now I (re)learn how to care for it, appreciate it, give it the consistent dedication it has given in all these years of homing me. . My dad was told he would never be able to have children. He tried before marrying my mother ...

Last night we made homemade spinach+kale gnocchi w/ a roasted tomato+garlic sauce. Its always fun making pasta because I pull up a chair to the couter for Harper and give her her own little set up and she LOVES trying to copy me. No matter how far away I tried to get, I couldn’t fit all of this amazing double rainbow in any lens. I can’t remember ever seeing one this big, wide, full and bright. I wonder what ancient tribes thought this meant. #rainbowconnection#rainbowbright

You are worth the time it takes to slow down, take the deeper breath, and enjoy the beauty of becoming. Nothing you are dealing with right now is permanent. Give yourself time. 🙏 #awakeaf 🎼: @risingappalachia
I watched a woman picking flowers this morning. Draped in white linen, her silver hair shone in the morning light. I felt like I was witnessing her biggest secret. She looked up, locking eyes with me for a moment before she smiled and carried on. She knew I wouldn’t try to stop her. Our days are made up of these moments. Little pockets of time that seem to stand still. We move so fast through the world, thinking about ‘what’s next’ and ‘who I have to talk to’ that we often slipby whats here. When we look up from our ...
// Bedside Pocket / Monster Face // . Hands down that best thing in the van. Perfectly dreamt up, Incredibly executed build, Highest quality engineering. . Okay I may be stoking the fire a little, but @driftingmaple made these and we love them! They are bedside pockets made from the old and ugly black plastics! . Courtney spent an afternoon precisely cutting and fitting shelving into the pocket and another evening wrapping the black plastics and making the necessary cut outs. . The little details make this little van a Home 🤗 . #vandesign#vanlife
Today, when you start feeling stiff, uncomfortable, irritable or nervous, after you exercise, or before bed take a moment to get on the floor and do pigeon. You can use a pillow, block, or bolster to prop you up if you are not able to get in the position on the floor. Opening up your hip in this way will help all of that stuck energy move and be released. This will help you feel more ease throughout the day and relax at night. Hold each side for at least a minute. You can do it! ...

I am happy to say I have been bringing meditation back into my life the last two days. Does this mean I have been meditating peacefully on a rock in the forest for 30 min at a time? No. I started with 5 min yesterday and 5 min today on my couch. . I am using a method I learned during my yoga teacher training where you focus on a mantra. This method works for my mind that likes to go a million different directions at once. . Obviously we know meditating is good for us. But how many of ...
@linsselise and I kind of just drove around boulder while it was raining yesterday until we found this perfect little hiking trail and when we got to the top of it around sunset, the rain stopped, there was a double rainbow and we got these super cute photos. Man, Colorado is really cool sometimes ✨
