Meet the snow leopard of Kolkata's taxis, the white Ambassador. Spotted in a private parking lot, I couldn't resist the urge to take a shot of this rare breed in its natural habitat. - - - #ilford#ilfordphoto
In Bangladesh, the buses I used to catch would actually jostle each to get the next passenger. Here the buses don't collide as much but they can be equally as thrilling to ride. Gotta read the bangla on the side real quick to know where it's heading! This one zooms through Salkia, Rabindra Sadan, Mintu Park and Garia. - - - #ilford#ilfordphoto
Taken from my office chair. If you're sitting alone by yourself in some good light, it's highly likely I'm going to find you out and take your photo... Especially if I don't have to stray too far from my laptop and diary. - - - #ilford#ilfordphoto
This man has to be one of the biggest characters in our neighbourhood. He runs an old, old family mishti (think little cakes) shop and specialises in making them in shapes such as fish, butterflies and dinosaurs. I know what I'm requesting for my birthday next week! He's proudly called me over a number of times to show me his huge motorbike and flick through the family photo album. On the wall behind him are portraits of his ancestors who also feature in the family album. I wanted to give him this portrait to add to the album but he ...
This man walked past me absolutely covered in white paint. You can see it in his hair, on his shoulders, arms and hands. Naturally, I asked to take his portrait. I'd just been called over for what I thought was going to be a regular chat by a group of about a dozen idle rickshaw pullers. It turned out to be one guy motioning at me to buy them some alcohol while the rest smirked on. These moments often come as a surprise to me because (I know this sounds weird) I often feel very Bengali in my head but ...
Sometimes you've gotta go against the grain! Loving this second black and white roll of film in which I've tried to capture a few of the quirkier parts of living in this city. I'm looking at doing some small prints, perhaps at 5 x 7. Let me know in the comments if this may interest ya! 🙋 - - - #ilford#ilfordphoto
I biked past this guy grinding metal at the end of our lane and immediately knew I had to turn around and ask if I could make a portrait. In my opinion, this is post-apocalyptic urban garb at it's finest! - - - #ilford#ilfordphoto
