Day dreaming about our wedding!!! It's been so much fun to design and pull together this moment with family and my fiance and our awesome wedding planners. Here is a sneak peak to our entrance for the wedding ceremony. How lucky are we? ♡ #dbg#arizona @robcat.h
Today is a complete change of pace from yesterday when it was cold (for Phoenix) and rainy. Today I’ve come out to the Desert Botanical Garden. It’s one of my favourite spots and I always try to come here when I’m in Phoenix. Anyone that knows me knows how much I love gardens! Just look at that blue sky and red rocks of Papago Park in the background! 😍 . #desertbotanicalgarden#cactus
☀️ New Mexico’s state flower, the Yucca, is closely related to the Agave, aka Century Plant. They’re both in the same family and often considered the same plant. New Mexico chose its beautiful state flower on March 14, 1927, by a vote amongst school children! This drawing hasn’t been made into a coloring page yet, we’re deciding what the background should be. . . What do you see in the background of a Yucca plant in bloom? . . This is an ink drawing of our Yucca, inspired by many walks through the beautiful high desert. . . 🌵Follow the ...
Finally made it to Electric Desert at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. I knew @klipcollective’s work was impressive from the #infinitycrystal installation the artist studio created for #canalconvergence. But I still wasn’t prepared for the absolutely mesmerizing show that was Ricardo Rivera is a genius (though I had figured it out from talking to him at CC). This experience was worth every cent. And it was a beautiful, overcast January evening at We could have watched the light move across that butte for hours. Bravo! . . .
Our last day in Phoenix we hiked to Hidden Valley via Mormon Trail south of the city. ☀️ All the sunshine that day, and a crazy busy trail - yay! I love meeting people (and puppers) along the way and seeing everyone be active and enjoy nature. 🌵 This trip really made me realize how much I LOVE (and need) sunshine! I will be prioritizing that more for the rest of this Canadian winter. ☀️🌵☀️🌵☀️
Aloe x 'Hercules', these are a cross between A. barberae and A. dichotoma. These guys are so tall, the garden decided to attach supports to each trunk for insurance against the elements. They're very impressive. #aloe#aloehercules
If there’s one thing I’m good at, it’s risking everything on a quirky idea and hoping for the best. This time I was lucky! I wasn’t sure if adding the red would result in the loss of a painting and 5 hours worth of work, but I did it regardless, and I think it turned out great. I hope this inspires you to rake a risk in the near future. #yolo ... This one is called “young garden,” and is based off photos I took at @dbgphx on New Year’s Eve. I wanted it to have a looser, more playful ...
