Last Sunday I headed straight from @katerowland's (lovely) wedding in Olney to launch the new park at @port_loop in Ladywood. My team at @impacthubbrum were commissioned by @weareurbansplash to make the event something to remember that really involved local people, and their manifesto point #playouttiltea was the catalyst for the day's themes and goals, as well as a really natural point for collaboration following all of our #radicalchildcare work. At its core, Play Out 'Til Tea was a road closure for local children and families to play outdoors safely and take back space that used to be far less ...
Had a short hiatus from instagram whilst plotting my programme for “Magical Animal School”.. which unfortunately meant I wasn’t able to share any info about the amazing day we had with #playouttiltea tea at @port_loop or any of the exciting things coming up for @justsofestival but it’s hard work training unicorns...will be posting some #justsofestival news here soon so watch this space. . .
Things got real crafty and colourful on Rotton Park Road last Sunday. @Port_loop came alive with picnics, pebble painting, hula hoops, books, box cars and much more to celebrate the opening of the new park.⠀ 🖌️⠀ Look at some of these creative vehicular creations - talk about attention to detail (loving that rear view mirror bling!)⠀ 🚗⠀ We were honoured to be a part of the crafternoon magic, and hope everyone who came out to play enjoyed themselves as much as us!⠀ ✨⠀ #portloop#rottonpark
I was awake earlier than usual last Sunday morning, literally painting the streets, for the #playouttiltea event near Rotton Park with @jamesmetaart 🎨🚸 Great to see the smiling faces of youngsters dancing around on the road between the colourful shapes. #forthekids
One of the many highlights of Sunday’s #playouttiltea event was seeing visitors enjoying the waterways; all day our @port_loop barge Taxi’d people to and from @brindleyplace. We also had @hotelboatel with us giving water tours of our island. . . . #portloop
yesterday I had the magical job of getting tiny and big kids alike to write lovely letters to fellow goers of #playouttiltea - a day run by @impacthubbrum all about play! There was face paints and tipis and at one point I was doing workshops on a glitter filled barge whilst sailing(?)..barging.. around the canals it was super, super gorgeous. Hope you had a magical weekend and have had a wonderful start to your week 💖 ..thanks for these lovely photos @thombartley, you dreambabe! #onemillionlovelyletters
Lovely afternoon yesterday as @impacthubbrum brought a little bit of what they do so well to Ladywood #playouttiltea @port_loop Glad to see @useituia participants involved too: #eatmakeplay @mothershipprojects @hotelboatel and our friends @trjfpbrum need opportunities to trade and to show what makes them unique!
Wonderful to see true placemaking in action @port_loop today for #playouttiltea - not just beautiful spaces and buildings, but PEOPLE: playing, meeting, eating and generally having fun in the sun! All the result of partnership working with @impacthub and their network of local creative and community groups - and driven by the force of nature that is @immykaur ❤️ long may this continue- I can’t wait to call this place home. #community
