This project really bowled me over (insert sound of people immediately unfollowing me). This is power carved from a tree that fell during an ice storm—probably maple ? Nice coloration. Can be worn as a helmet; wouldn’t recommend though. • • • #wewd#foundwood
Popped into @amforloversofwood today. Picked up some beautiful Spalted Maple, Birdseye Maple, and @osmocanada products. I love wandering though this store, the same store my grandfather did many years ago. I can only imagine the stories he would tell, sarcastic quips, and terrible puns he made!! #handmadeisbetter#handmadewood
Ok, it starts here. Do it now. This is my most successful eating spoon to date. It works and feels nicer to use than the previous ones. The wood came from a friends apple tree. Fruit wood is so nice to work with. Local people please let me know if you are pruning your trees...And it sits beside some spalted hornbeam generously given to me by @hamblintreecare which I intend to use to make another 2 eating spoons. So something archieved and something yet to achieve. #lewesmaker#greenwood
When I was in art class at school I used to love copying great artists work, painting their paintings and drawing what they drew. Learning how to mimic brush strokes and create something beautiful. This seems to have transferred into carving, watching and learning from the great carvers, mimicking shapes, facets and cuts to create something beautiful. Here's a slightly spalted birch spoon inspired by the spoons of @emmet_van_driesche . DM me if you'd like it 🙂🌳🥄 . . . . #artwork#mimic ...
some more photos of the cherry wood and clear epoxy table, with walnut legs. love how this one turned out! will be available for purchase soon! . . . #buppwoodworks#ecopoxy @ecopoxy @bullvalleyhardwood @resinplanet
Tried to make brass ferrules for a puukko. Interesting to shape the sheet metal and give it one more dimension. Brazed with silver and when the seem it tight fitting it won't be seen. Btw. the wood is spalted and stabilized birch. And then there's birch bark. Maybe I'll add layers of Vulcan fibre or leather, the idea has to ripe yet. #wannabeknifemaker#puukko
The overhead shot of my “Crinkle Top” hall table from last year. Took four sheets of Spalted Beech veneer, but in the end always reminds me of a zigzag watercolor painting!!👩🏻🔧👩🏻🎨 . . Photos from @laurenmazzotta . . #woodworking#woodworkingwoman

Part two of the Woodland Trust Stool. The beech has been slabbed up and will now dry a bit more for a couple of months. The spalting is heavy but the wood is sound. Beech certainly is a wonderful timber to work with. #somerset#handmade
Chopped and collected some big logs yesterday with @wanderrustuk and @elberto666, now today we've been sawing some in half for firewood and found some beautiful spalting in the centre! Safe to say we're all now busy chopping slices to take some home each to build a shelf 😁 This is one of the smaller pieces I decided to season and treat with Chilli and Garlic infused Olive Oil... Not bad eh! 😂😂👍 . So then in go to the van to post this and see @rainbowsontheroad Roy through the window enjoying licking the newly treated piece 😂😂😂 . . ...

Had a tree down in a marshy area behind my house, cut up and used almost all the trunk, but I've been eyeballing the stump. Yanked it yesterday and cleaned it up. Pretty rotted, but I'm hoping there will be at least some salvageable pieces. #woodturnersofinstagram#woodturning
