This afternoon I hosted a virtual wine tasting on The Wines of Greece. It was a blast - I have the best participants! They are always so much fun, and were quite rowdy today 😜🍷. Anyway, Greek wines are mostly unknown to many, and even harder to pronounce, but everyone really enjoyed all of these wines.
We drank two whites - Moschofilero (very aromatic, similar to a dry Riesling), and Assyrtiko (my personal fave; strong, mineral, savory from the volcanic soils of Santorini).
We also tasted two reds - Xinomavro (often compared to Nebbiolo/Barolo) and Agiorgitiko (often compared to Merlot).
The next time you’re at your wine store, don’t be afraid to experiment with a Greek wine! You may discover something wonderful!!!
