Woodcut and Linocut: If you lived in 5th century China, having a Woodcut Printing Business was probably the most coveted career choice, if the word 'career' existed back then. Communication Design students, as part of exploring various materials learned about this ancient technique of printing. The process entails, first drawing the pattern onto a piece of wood and then scraping out the negative, fillable spaces so as to leave an indented outline of the pattern behind. After that, a layer of paint is applied onto the wood and any printable surface like cloth or paper is carefully placed on it. The paint leaves the imprint of the pattern onto the surface.
